Tenet, starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson in lead roles, is set to hit theatres on August 12. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.
The release of Christopher Nolan’s next directorial film, Tenet, has been pushed back one more time. This is the second time the release of this highly anticipated tentpole has been delayed.
Tenet was initially slated to arrive in theatres on July 17, but was later postponed until July 31. Now, it will be released on August 12.
Warner Bros on Thursday released a statement announcing the new release date of Tenet. The statement read, “Warner Bros. is committed to bringing Tenet to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it’s time. In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy.”
The studio also announced that it has delayed the re-release of Christopher Nolan’s 2010 film, Inception, to July 31. The film is being re-released to honour its 10th anniversary this year.
Tenet stars John David Washington and Robert Pattinson in lead roles. Elizabeth Debicki, Clemence Poesy, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh play pivotal roles.
The second trailer of Tenet was released last month. From the first look of the footage, it seems there’s a larger conspiracy at play and John David Washington’s character is assigned to solve it. It indicated that the lead actors are on a mission to prevent World War III.ADVERTISEMENT
Just like the first trailer, released in December last year, the new trailer also shows time manipulation, which isn’t explained this time either. Tenet was earlier scheduled to hit the screens in July this year, but as theatres remain shut due to the novel coronavirus crisis, makers decided to postpone it for a later date. The second trailer didn’t announce the release date of the film. However, now it is clear that Tenet is releasing on August 12.
